It is usually pretty normal to experience delays or increased charges when it comes to mail. However, since the COVID-19 pandemic, mailing services struggle to deliver packages quickly.

Because of these obstacles, there has been a surcharge added to mail being delivered by FedEx. Due to high volumes, demand, and operating costs, FedEx has experienced a delay in mail delivery. To provide the best customer service possible, a surcharge must be implemented.

If you are still confused about what this all means or what it entails for the future of mailing, you’re not alone. The pandemic has affected many people, and mail carriers have experienced their fair share of challenges.

Here is what you need to know about FedEx’s recent surcharges and how Listing Mirror can help.

The Surcharge

As mentioned previously, the FedEx surcharge has been implemented because of increased parcel volume demand. Some surcharges will be continuations of previous surcharges while others may be completely new.

The goal of the surcharge is to relieve pressure off of mail carriers and manufacturers. This is done by allowing more time for FedEx to keep up with delivery requirements and increasing staffing demands.

The surcharge officially went into effect on June 21, 2021.

Residential Delivery Charge

Since the surcharge has been placed into effect, customers who meet a certain volume threshold will be fined with a Peak Residential Delivery Charge. FedEx will oversee the customer’s volume and assess how the charge will go into effect.

Any discounts that have already been added will not be applied, and this fee will be intertwined with their current residential delivery charge. If this were to apply to your mail, a FedEx sales representative would contact you immediately and discuss how it may impact you.

Types of Charges

With the most recent announcement of a FedEx surcharge comes new and previous information that you should be aware of. These are some of the newest charges provided by FedEx.
